IMSC2022 conference contract with MECC Maastricht signed
From 27 August to 2 September 2022, MECC Maastricht will welcome the International Mass Spectrometry Conference (IMSC). This biannual conference focuses on the breadth of mass spectrometry. Joining the ranks of cities such as Kyoto, Toronto, Florence, Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro, Maastricht has been chosen as the destination for the 24th edition of the conference. The agreement was signed today by Prof. Dr. R.M.A. Heeren, internationally renowned distinguished professor at UM’s Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, and director of M4I, who chairs the local organizing committee of IMSC, and by Frank Mimpen, MECC Maastricht Commercial Director. The state-of-the-art MECC Studio served as the stage for this hybrid signing, with some of the guests attending virtually.
Prof. Dr. R.M.A. Heeren: “The recently renovated MECC Maastricht is the perfect venue for the 2022 edition of the International Mass Spectrometry Conference. With its new upgrades, the conference centre now meets our needs more than ever. We are also very taken with Maastricht as a conference destination, the compactness of the city and MECC’s central location in relation to the city centre are the perfect combination for networking. The proximity of the Brightlands campuses also contributes to Maastricht’s appeal to scientists.”
Frank Mimpen, MECC Maastricht Commercial Director: “Today is a special day for MECC Maastricht. After a difficult period for the conference industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are very much looking forward to meeting up in person again. We are delighted with the prospect of welcoming the International Mass Spectrometry Conference in 2022 with its 1,500 participants from all over the world here in Maastricht, in our brand new conference centre. After the renovation and upgrade, MECC Maastricht is ready for the future, now more than ever.”
